Laura Whitmore has spoken out about suffering a miscarriage, saying she did not know how to react when it happened.

The Love Island presenter, 35, revealed last year that she had a miscarriage after an unplanned pregnancy with her boyfriend Iain Stirling.

She told Hot Press that she discovered she had lost her baby when doctors could not find a heartbeat at 12 weeks.

Whitmore opened up about it again during a chat with comedian Katherine Ryan on her own Castaway podcast, saying: “I didn’t know how I was supposed to react.

“Was I supposed to be upset? Was I supposed to be, ‘Oh, OK’ and move on?”

“I remember being all over the place.”

She told Ryan: “I’ve never told you this, but I remember in my situation about two years ago when we went for our scan, it was supposed to be our first proper scan, and it was that night I was going to see your show.”

Whitmore said after they found out they had lost the baby, Stirling suggested they just go home but she wanted to carry on with their plans to see Ryan’s show.

She told him: “I want to have a little bit of escapism for an hour and I want to laugh and I want to watch a show and then I’ll deal with it.”

Ryan, 36, also talked about how she went through a miscarriage herself earlier this year.

The star, who has a daughter named Violet, said: “I felt embarrassed and shameful, not that I had the loss, but I felt embarrassed for getting excited before the loss.

“I felt all these things, and I looked for stories and I really couldn’t find many of them.”

Whitmore and Stirling – who is the narrator of Love Island - have been dating since 2017.
