Laura Linney has joined the cast of Jason Bateman‘s Netflix drama Ozark as a series regular, TheWrap has learned.

The family crime drama will be directed and executive produced by Bateman, who also stars.

Grounded in money-centric reality, the present-day story revolves around financial planner Marty Bird (Bateman), his wife Wendy (Linney) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks.

Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Ozark explores capitalism, family dynamics and survival through the eyes of anything-but-ordinary Americans.

The series will premiere in 2017.

Series creator Bill Dubuque also serves as executive producer, along with showrunner Chris Mundy. Bateman’s company, Aggregate, produces the series with Media Rights Capital.
