Latest ‘Married … With Children’ Spinoff Talk Still Just A Whisper
The Internet has taken its collective hand from out of its pants to react to former Married … With Children star David Faustino’s red-carpet quote that a pilot script for a spinoff series is in the hands of rightsholder Sony TV and “they’re excited about it.” Faustino made the comments Monday at the premiere of Warner Bros/New Line’s Vacation, which stars his former Married … With Children sister Christina Applegate.
This is not the first time the possibility of a spinoff has been floated for the long-running Fox series (11 seasons, from 1987-1997) that skewered traditional sitcoms with its dysfunctional family — played so deftly by Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal along with Applegate and Faustino. But despite Faustino telling E! that Sony TV is “working out some legal issues that we hope they work out,” there is nothing currently in development at the studio and here is no writer attached, we’re told.
“The whole cast, including Christina, is down to do little bits in it,” Faustino told E!. “The idea would be a pilot for a spinoff. That’s all I can say right now. It involves me and few other people.”
For now there’s always reruns – and O’Neill’s Modern Family.
