This Latest Kardashian Photoshop ‘Fail’ Is Low-Key Hilarious (& Involves North, Too!)

Just when you thought you’d heard every possible headline pertaining to the Kardashian family, along comes a controversy even more perplexing than the last. Take, for example, the new hullabaloo over a supposedly Photoshopped Instagram of Kim Kardashian’s and North West’s feet. Yes, you read that right — their feet. Or, to be perfectly specific, Kardashian’s and her daughter’s toes are the epicenter of this media storm.

Here’s the deal. On Monday, Kardashian posted a photo on Instagram of herself and sister Kylie Jenner walking toward the camera dressed in colored bodysuits. The stylized photo, as made evident by the caption, was in promotion of Kardashian and Jenner’s new perfume collaboration. Sounds pretty standard, right? Only, eagle-eyed fans noticed a potential anomaly: Kardashian’s foot appears to have six toes. Now, hold that thought.

On Tuesday, Kardashian posted a series of photos showing three of her four kids: North, Saint and Psalm West. And while it was clearly a cute family moment, the internet once again found a foot fixation — the last snapshot of the series seems to show only four toes on North’s foot. Seeing as the pic came only a day after Kardashian’s other seemingly askew foot photo, much is being made about whether Kardashian has taken editing her social media snaps to a new extremity, er, extreme.

So, let’s unpack a little.

In the photo of Kardashian and Jenner, commenters seemed convinced the “extra” toe was a byproduct of overediting. “Broooo go back to Aug 11 photo and she only has 5 toes,” one commenter said. “How do you mess up so badly by editing on a 6^th toe.” But a rep for Kardashian told Page Six that the sixth toe is nothing more than an optical illusion. When Kardashian shared the photos of her kids, people played off of the first foot-faux-pas. “Kim needed a 6^th toe so she took North’s,” one commenter joked.

Of course, it goes without saying (but we will anyway) it’s downright comical that toe mishaps are currently plaguing the Kardashian family. Like, did the universe run out of regular crises and throw something totally random in their direction as a result? Also, how are people noticing these things? Is there zooming involved? Working that hard to find fault with someone’s photos surely can’t be any better than comically bad photo editing, can it?

Granted, if Kardashian really is editing her photos all the way down to her — and her children’s — lower digits, it might be time for an intervention. But, really, we’re not convinced that’s what happened here. TBH, it just looks like North’s foot is rolled in a way that obscures her pinky toe. (And also honestly? Who would edit out an adorable little pinky toe?!)

As for the photo of Kardashian and Jenner, it looks like what people are perceiving as a sixth toe is actually the bit of foot behind the toes that sort of splays out from the pressure applied to the front of the foot when walking in heels. In which case, c’mon, this is how bodily insecurities are born. If Kardashian didn’t want to or think to Photoshop that part of her foot before, the thought is probably in her head now, wouldn’t you say?
