‘Late Late Show’ Opens With Poignant Message Against Trump’s Immigration Ban

Monday night’s episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden opened with a poignant message about President Trump’s immigration ban. The show started with a video of James in the backseat of a car followed by him getting out of the car at Los Angeles International Airport and walking past some protesters as he entered the airport. Once inside, video that James was clearly just shooting on his phone showed glimpses of him checking in, going through security, ordering a sandwich, and eating it, then boarding the plane.

At that point the screen went black, and a message appeared that read, “Today James flew out of Los Angeles. So all of our shows this week have been pretaped. Freedom of movement should be this easy for all legal immigrants. Not just the white and Christian ones.”

People immediately took to Twitter to praise The Late Late Show’s message, and earlier in the day, James took to Twitter as well, to praise people in Liverpool, England, who were protesting Trump’s immigration ban.

The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
