The Last of Us star Ashley Johnson is suing her ex-boyfriend Brian Foster over his alleged “chilling and depraved behavior towards women.”

In a complaint filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday and obtained by PEOPLE, Johnson, 40, and six other women — including her sister, Haylie Langseth — accused Foster of domestic violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual battery, assault and stalking.

“The women unfortunate enough to have crossed his path were subjected to a common thread of physical and sexual violence as well as mental and emotional abuse,” the complaint alleges. “Foster has left a trail of victims whose lives he sought to control through various lies, threats, intimidation, and manipulation.”

In a statement to PEOPLE, the women's attorney Bryan Freedman says: "The police officer who reviewed the evidence was so concerned for Ashley Johnson’s safety that he went on his own to a judge to get an immediate emergency protective order against Brian W. Foster. Since then, six additional women have come forward. This lawsuit is filed to both remedy the abuse Foster has inflicted on my seven clients as well as to prevent others from being victimized by Foster’s pattern of mental, emotional and physical abuse."

Foster declined to comment when reached by PEOPLE. Foster's attorney did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

In the filing, the Growing Pains alum claims she was left “scared, intimidated, off-balance, confused, traumatized, and under constant duress for years” due to Foster’s “threats to extort Johnson by releasing personal information as well as his consistent acts of physical intimidation including but not limited to punching through glass, throwing objects, and screaming obscenities in her face.”

The actress — who stars as Anna Williams in The Last of Us —  claims the former host of the webseries Talks Machina threatened to extort her for $150,000 to prevent the release of “private information.”

The documents also allege “Johnson has good reason to believe that Foster would act on his threats or harm her if she were to provoke him or fail to succumb to his will because after breaking up in March 2023, Foster began suspiciously carrying around a large black duffel bag and an ammo case containing two airsoft guns modified to appear as real guns and a garotte which is a strangulation device.”

According to the complaint, Johnson obtained an Emergency Protective Order against Foster in May due to his alleged threats and past behavior.

The lawsuit claims Foster violated the terms of the Emergency Protective Order when he locked her out of her house and “commandeered Johnson’s home security cameras and microphones to monitor her and track her comings and goings.”

In August, Foster denied the allegations in a filing in a response to the Emergency Protective Order.

“I do not own any firearms, or a gun license, and all of the allegations ... that say I was carrying an ‘ammo box’ are untrue,” Foster wrote. “Petitioner knows that I was planning to take a 2 week camping trip. I had purchased a Trail Box from Bespoke Post for that trip,” he stated, per the Los Angeles Times.

The suit claims that Foster “spewed lies” at the other women pursuing legal action against him including that “he and Johnson were in an ‘open relationship,’ designed to coax them into submitting to his inappropriate sexual advances.”

“Being the sociopath that he is, Foster often treated these women as sexual objects freely groping them without consent, sometimes in openly public settings," the complaint alleges. "Any woman who refused to submit to his will or who confronted him for any reason was met with a wrath of obscenities, intimidation, and threats."

The complaint says the seven women decided to come forward with allegations because, “After years of suffering Foster's abuse and after being pushed towards an emotional breakdown as a result, Plaintiffs have had enough.”

“They will neither tolerate being abused by Foster nor will they be deterred by his ongoing and pervasive threats and behaviors. Plaintiffs bring this action to seek some measure of justice not only for themselves but also for the many other women who have been similarly abused by Foster,” the filing continues. “While Plaintiffs have remained private and avoided publicity, they now pursue this action as a cautionary tale.”
