Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra's season begins this weekend. Here's the concert lineup.
Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra is preparing to start its 2023-2024 season this weekend with the classics “Romeo and Juliet” and “Swan Lake.”
LCSO is a 70-member ensemble in Las Cruces that performs several concerts throughout the season, including classic programs and pop programs. The ensemble added a few concerts this season for a total of five.
The concert schedule includes:
Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 – Classics 1
Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” and Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” featuring Borderlands Ballet Company and the Las Cruces Chamber Ballet
Oct. 28 and Oct. 29 – Pops 1
A celebration of Dia de los Muertos with music by de Falla and Marquez featuring the Paso del Norte Chamber Orchestra from Ciudad Juárez
Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 – Classics 2
Enter into the Christmas season with Handel’s “The Messiah” choral piece
Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 – Pops 2
Take a step into the silver screen with the music of “Star Wars,” “Jurassic Park,” “Star Trek” and others
April 13 and April 14 – Classics 3
The LCSO season will come to a close with a program inspired by water and the sounds of space with Debussy’s “La Mer” and Smetana’s “Die Moldau
LCSO performances are held on the New Mexico State University campus at the Atkinson Recital Hall, located at 1075 N. Horseshoe St.Tickets for the concerts are available for purchase online at lascrucessymphony.com.
