Larry and Shawn King Break Their Silence (and Hop into Bed Together!) Amid Cheating Rumors: 'Don't Pay Any Attention'
Larry King and Shawn King are speaking out amid reports of infidelity in their marriage.
On Friday’s episode of Home & Family, the talk show host and his actress wife break their silence following reports that Shawn was in a yearlong romance with British public speaker Richard Greene.
“[It’s] an interesting word, ‘rumor.’ You know, I’m been in the business – next May’ll be 60 years – and I’ve dealt with rumors a long time, interviewed people involved with rumors. Rumors are what they are – they’re rumors. And I tell you the truth: I don’t pay any attention to them,” Larry, 82, says in a clip of the upcoming Hallmark Channel episode.
The couple, who wed in 1997 and share two sons together, were all smiles for the interview, which was filmed in a bedroom at their home.
“Last week there was a rumor going around about Larry and a speech he made in Kiev, and there was all this [speculation] about that,” Shawn, 56, says of the rumors. “This week I’m latest the pin-up girl. You have to just develop a shell around yourself and not get hard on the inside and stick together. We’ve been at it for a while.”
On Thursday, PEOPLE confirmed that Shawn has been in a yearlong affair with Greene. Additionally, another insider told PEOPLE that Shawn had allegedly told Greene that her marriage to her husband was over.
The Hallmark interview also details where and how the couple first met: outside of Tiffany & Co. on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. “He grunts at me, he literally grunts at me,” Shawn laughs while telling the story of Larry hitting on her. Shortly after seeing one another on the sidewalk, the two found themselves in the same elevator. “ ‘You better get out of here right away or this is going to be all over the tabloids,’ ” Shawn says of what Larry quipped.
“She had something special,” Larry remarks of what drew him to his seventh wife. “She’s beautiful – great hair, great face, great look – but she wobbles when she walks … it turned me on,” he adds.
During the interview, the couple also hops into bed following the direction of the hosts. “Shawn sit down, Larry sit down. All those rumors, we’re going to put them to rest right now. The two of you, get in your bed,” Debbie Matenopoulos instructs the couple, who begins cuddling and kissing on the bed.
The Home & Family interview airs Friday at 10 a.m. ET on Hallmark Channel.
