Kobe Bryant was supposed to be the main attraction for the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night, but Larry Nance Jr. may have taken away some of his spotlight before halftime.

With less than a minute left before Bryants’ number retirement was slated to start, Nance got the home fans on their feet with a ferocious dunk over Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant.

The Lakers managed to catch the Warriors with a 4-on-2 advantage. Nance received the pass from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, went straight at Durant and the rest is history. He delivered a vicious dunk right in Durant’s face. It’s the type of dunk made for a poster.

As you might expect, the Lakers bench reacted in the appropriate way. There was disbelief. There was yelling. There was unbalanced strutting. We even saw some arm windmills in there.

Nance’s dunk helped the Lakers close the gap. They trailed 57-53 before Bryant’s ceremony at halftime.

Lakers fans were already going to be riled up for that, but Nance gave them a little extra incentive to get on their feet and start screaming a few minutes early.
