Larry King and wife Shawn divorcing after 22 years of marriage and years of infidelity rumors

Larry King and his wife, Shawn Southwick King, are calling it quits after a tumultuous 22-year marriage.

The CNN host's lawyers confirmed the news, which was first reported by The Blast, to People. Larry, 85, married Shawn, 59, back in 1997, and the former couple shares two children, sons Chance, 20, and Cannon 19.

Larry was the one who reportedly filed for divorce in L.A. County court on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences. In paperwork obtained by The Blast, Larry claimed that he separated and Shawn separated on June 6, 2019 after exactly 21 years and 9 months of marriage.

In fact, this isn't the first time that Larry has done so. Their union was dogged by multiple reports over the years about Shawn's alleged infidelity, first in 2010 when the National Enquirer reported that Shawn had an affair with one of their son's baseball coaches. While the coach confirmed the tryst and Larry filed for divorce, he and Shawn ultimately decided to continue on with their marriage.

People reported six years later in 2016, citing multiple sources close to the couple, that Shawn had carried on another affair for over a year at that time and that Larry was "completely embarrassed and anguished" by the situation. A subsequent source told the outlet that Shawn had told her alleged lover that her marriage with Larry was on the outs.

They both denied the affair in a joint interview on "Home & Family" in August of that year.

Shawn and Larry wed in 1997 in his hospital room before he underwent heart surgery. He's had many heart problems over the years, with his most recent heart-related hospitalization coming in April of this year.

Shawn was Larry's seventh wife, while Larry was Shawn's third husband.
