Lara Trump says Democrats want illegal immigrants because 'those are the new voters'

On Monday’s Varney & Co. on the Fox Business network, President Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, discussed immigration and the struggle at the U.S.-Mexico border, which she implied is being fueled by Democrats.

“They want to keep people in chaos; they want to keep people upset and in an uproar so that way people are motivated to go out and vote,” Lara said. “And make no mistake about it, they want these people coming in because those are the new voters for the Democrats coming over the border. So it’s an interesting situation. I think the president is doing a great job.”

Lara, who’s married to Eric Trump and is a Trump 2020 senior advisor, agreed with host Stuart Varney that the solution to all of this simple: It’s all about the wall. Varney said that Trump offered a deal to the Democrats in Congress: “Build the wall and you’ll get DACA, you’ll get the Dreamers.” But Lara thinks the Democrats just aren’t interested in a deal.

“This is all about politics to them. They don’t really care about the people into this country,” Lara said about Democrats. Earlier in the interview, she had argued: “This is a president who’s been left a mess. I think he’s dealing with it in the best way possible.”

Varney & Co. airs weekdays at 8 a.m. on Fox Business.
