Lance Bass knows just how hectic planning a family getaway can be.

While chatting with PEOPLE about his partnership with Allegra, the musician, 44, also opens up about taking trips with husband Michael Turchin and their 2-year-old twins — son Alexander James and daughter Violet Betty.

"It's hard to plan anything these days because every time I plan something, it always gets canceled. I always get some kind of job," Bass says.

"So a lot of our trips are kind of last minute like, 'Okay, let's do a road trip here,' " the *NSYNC singer adds.

Currently, Bass says he and his family are hoping to take part in some exciting travel plans in 2024.

Highlighting an upcoming trip to Utah, Bass shares that he is "excited" that his toddlers will "see snow for the first time and put skis on for the first time."

"I'm so excited for them to really, hopefully, enjoy all of that, because I didn't even know how to ski until I was in my 30s," he adds with a laugh. "So I want to give them this gift."

Bass says he and his brood also enjoy taking trips that incorporate their extended families. "We love going to Mississippi and Florida to visit the grandparents," he notes.

Looking ahead, the star says he and Turchin, 37, who wed in 2014, would love to soon take their kids on adventures abroad.

"I plan on taking them to different countries, eventually. Not right now, but when they're old enough to start remembering things, hopefully 4 or 5 years old," Bass explains.

"I would love to let them choose. 'Where do you want to go this year?' and give them an option of like, 'Do you want to go to England? Do you want to go to Spain? Do you want to go to Central America?' " he continues.

Bass adds: "Just something different where they get to choose where we go adventure."

Bass and Turchin welcomed their twins via surrogate in October 2021. The couple shared the exciting news on Instagram at the time, posting photos of the babies' birth certificates that included stamps of their tiny footprints.

"The baby dragons have arrived!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I can not express how much love I feel right now," Bass captioned the post. "Thank you for all the kind wishes. It meant a lot. Now, how do you change a diaper??! Ahhhhhhhh!"

As he reflects on the latest phase of his parenting journey, Bass tells PEOPLE that raising toddler twins is an experience like no other. "I feel like every day is a different milestone, and it is just incredible," he says. "They're in school now, which I think is really insane — they're little people now."

"They can communicate with you. You're having these conversations, and it's just so surreal to think just two years ago, which seems like yesterday, they were just little blobs on the couch and couldn't do anything," adds the proud dad.
