Stars on Mars is experiencing some out-of-this-world drama.

Several contestants on the Fox reality competition series got into a major blowup last week after Lance Armstrong shared his controversial opinions about trans athletes, which was on the heels of his escalating clashes with Ariel Winter. It all came to a head on Monday's episode when the disgraced former pro cyclist threatened to quit altogether.

After the group voted for the Modern Family actress to be their latest Base Commander,  Marshawn Lynch said he thought there was too much bad blood between Winter and Armstrong for that to be a good idea, which she took issue with. That's when Armstrong piped in with a solution.

"Ariel, let me make this really simple: I don't need the drama," Armstrong dramatically declared during the team meeting. "I busted my ass for nine days, I'm gonna bust my ass on the 10th day, and I'm going to auto-select myself to leave."

But fellow contestant Porsha Williams was not having it. "Nah, I don't like that. What are you talking about?" the Real Housewives of Atlanta star asked. "That's not even fair for the team for you to say, 'Oh, I'm gonna opt out.'"

"We have all these new great people. It's gonna be fine," replied Armstrong, referring to the show adding four new celebrity contestants (Andy Richter, Ashley Iaconetti, Paul Pierce, and Cat Cora) in the last episode.

"Nobody's giving up," a frustrated Willams told him. "I'm tired of people giving up because it's really making the experience not fun. I thought we were having fun because I thought everyone who was here now actually wanted to be here."

Williams urged him to sleep on it, saying, "We're gonna finish today and we'll handle tomorrow when tomorrow comes."

"I'm not living in this hab another day with certain people," Armstrong griped, looking over at Winter. The 25-year-old actress had most recently scolded the 51-year-old athlete for "ostracizing the people who don't fit in the categories" when he shared his opinion that transgender people should compete in their own separate division in sports.

"We don't see eye-to-eye on a human rights issue, that's it," Winter said, insisting that she wouldn't let her personal issues with Armstrong cloud her judgment on his performance in the mission.

The next morning, Armstrong updated the group on his elimination status: "Guys, I've decided to change my mind," he announced. "I had a good sleep and a good workout so I decided to not tap out."

"Ariel and I just have very different styles," he explained in a confessional interview. "I did want to leave, but you know maybe I'm not giving people enough credit. I mean everybody's different, some people hold grudges, but I'll stick it out."

Winter went on to lead the group to victory during a mission that saw them forced to use their bodies to plug holes in their shelter after host William Shatner informed them a meteorite shower had caused leaks and their oxygen levels were tanking. Although Armstrong complained about Winter not declaring him safe early enough for his liking, he was named Mission Critical and escaped being placed in the bottom three. Ultimately, Bachelor franchise alum Iaconetti was eliminated from the show.

Stars on Mars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
