Lamar Odom is "okay" after he crashed his car into two parked vehicles in Los Angeles in the early hours of Sept. 11, his rep confirmed.

Odom’s rep Gina Rodriguez told PEOPLE on Sunday that the accident occurred at around 3 a.m. when the 43-year-old former NBA player was on his way home from his friend’s place in Northridge. TMZ was the first to report the news.

According to Rodriguez, Odom was behind the wheel of his white Mercedes when “his phone fell and it dropped on the floor and when he reached out for it, his arm went with it” and he ran into a parked car that then hit another parked car nearby upon impact.

Rodriguez told PEOPLE that no one was inside the parked vehicles at the time they were struck and no one else was involved in the accident.

She confirmed that Odom “was totally fine,” but that “he was a little shaken up” because “all three of his airbags deployed.”

LAPD officers later arrived at the scene, where Odom explained to them how the accident happened, according to Rodriguez. She told PEOPLE that officers questioned if Odom was sober at the time of the crash because they “knew his history” for past substance abuse issues.

Rodriguez confirmed to PEOPLE that Odom told the authorities he “didn’t drink” and “he hasn’t been using any drugs” as he now owns addiction recovery centers.

As a result, LAPD did not perform any field sobriety tests, she noted.

LAPD witnessed Odom exchange insurance information with the two owners of the vehicles hit and was driven home by his security guard who was already following him from behind since his Mercedes had to be towed, according to Rodriguez.

The former Lakers star was previously involved in a fatal car crash in 2011 when his chauffeur driver hit a motorcycle, which in turn killed a 15-year-old boy — right after he visited his cousin at a hospital in New York City.

Odom recounted the accident in a 2021 interview with VladTV. He explained that the crash occurred while he was on his way back from getting his haircut in Queens after seeing his cousin when the chauffeur driver handed him the phone and didn’t see the motorcyclist attempting to turn left.

At that moment, the chauffeur driver hit the motorcyclist, who then crashed into the teenage pedestrian. The motorcyclist was in stable condition at the same hospital where the 15-year-old died from his injuries, ESPN reported at the time.
