Lakeland PBS features former Bemidji drive-in restaurants

Apr. 26—BEMIDJI — The Red Onion Drive-In and A&W Drive-In once served customers stopping in Bemidji. Now, they live on in the new Lakeland PBS documentary "Order Up!"

"Grab your extra change and take a drive into history as we visit the drive-ins that served the Minnesota communities of Brainerd and Bemidji and visit those foodie places in Roseau and Fergus Falls, where the grills are still hot today," a release said.

In addition to the Bemidji drive-ins, "Order Up!" features Corral Drive-In in Brainerd, Dairyland in Fergus Falls and Earl's Drive-In in Roseau.

"I hope this film reminds viewers of the beauty of slowing down and finding adventure and memories out of the simple act of enjoying dinner," shared Producer and Director Randy Cadwell, in the release. "Drive-ins were an experience."

The documentary includes interviews with family members who were involved in the local businesses. "Order Up!" shows the pride that these families had in their work and the dedication they put into serving their communities, the release said.

"At the end of the day, I hope viewers take in all of the nostalgic, warm and fuzzy moments that are featured in Order Up," Cadwell added in the release.

The documentary is available for free on the PBS App and on the Lakeland PBS website at
