Lake Lanier is getting a new attraction!

On Wednesday, Margaritaville at Lake Lanier Islands held a groundbreaking ceremony to announce their plans for this summer — a new water park.

According to the resort’s official website, one major draw for their Fins Up Water Park will be “the much-anticipated Apocalypso — Georgia's first adrenaline-fueled waterslide coaster that will redefine aquatic thrills.”

The water park will have a variety of aquatic activities for all ages.

In addition to Apocalypso, there will be three other slides for their younger, thrill-seeking audience: Serpentine Storm, Dreamsicle Dive and Mango Mania.

The multi-million dollar revamp will also see new drink and dining options for park-goers, as well as an expanded Wibit Aquatic Adventure, and new cabanas.

There will also be more options to stock up on souvenirs to remember your trip with the addition of brand new retail spaces at the water park.

“This monumental investment marks the most significant expansion of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands in decades, adding Georgia’s largest waterslide complex to the water park, boasting an impressive 15 slides in total in 2024,” park officials wrote in a statement, per Atlanta’s WSB-TV 2.

Officials also announced they “got to sign some steel” on the Apocalypso, the news station continued.

Others are excited about the grand opening and what it will mean for residents and travelers as well.

“This blockbuster tower of slides, featuring Georgia’s first waterslide coaster, will be an epic addition to Margaritaville at Lanier Islands,” “Bucky” Perry, Vice President of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, said in a statement when the ride was announced last fall. “For those seeking an escape and a nonstop day of high-speed intensity thrills and family fun, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is the place to be.”

“I can’t think of a more appropriate thing, with the 62 years of history at this lake, to add Georgia’s largest water complex on Georgia’s largest lake,” Charles Burton, executive director of Lanier Islands Developmental Authority told AccessWDUN. “It’s a great opportunity.”

The company’s announcement advised potential patrons to stay tuned by tracking updates via social media.

Margaritaville at Lake Lanier Islands is currently having a St. Patrick’s Day season pass sale for $99.99.
