Go tell it on the mountain — Lainey Wilson and Zach Williams are teaming up for a rockin' performance of a festive classic!

The two musicians joined forces for a high-energy version of the holiday carol "Go Tell It on the Mountain" for this year's CMA Country Christmas special, and PEOPLE can exclusively share a clip from the upcoming performance.

"I’m looking forward to this," said Williams in a backstage interview at CMA Country Christmas. "This is gonna be fun!"

His duet partner said it's a "crazy" experience to perform the classic Christmas song with Williams. "I’ve been a fan of yours for a really long time," explained Wilson, "and getting to do ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ — which, I grew up going to Baskin Baptist Church, and every single year around this time, this is what we would sing."

Williams agreed: "This is an honor for me. I’m a big fan, and so getting a chance to do this song and then just be here and be a part of CMA Country Christmas. Some of my favorite artists are performing. It’s awesome."

2023 was massive for Wilson, who earned album of the year for her second major label record Bell Bottom Country at both the CMA Awards and ACM Awards. Additionally, the project is nominated for best country album at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she's also up for best country duo/group performance for "Save Me" with Jelly Roll.

“Bell Bottom Country is nominated for country album of the year at this year’s #GRAMMYs and my brother @jellyroll615 and I snagged a nomination for country duo/group performance with ‘Save Me,’” wrote Wilson on social media after the nominations were announced last month. “It is an honor, to say the least. Thank you @recordingacademy and big congrats to all the nominees 👏🏻🤘🏻”
