LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Sometimes divine intervention pushes us in the direction we’re supposed to be moving. And that was the case for Michelle Citizen of Lafayette.

She appeared on Monday’s episode of the longtime CBS game show “The Price is Right,” and took home the biggest prize available, the Final Showcase, a life-changing moment that nearly didn’t happen.

“The day before, I almost didn’t go,” Citizen said. “My husband said, ‘Well, it’s preplanned and, you know, yadda, yadda.’ So I went.”

But she really didn’t want to go on her planned girls trip with her friend Bella after the passing of her aunt the day before they were supposed to leave for California.

After some contemplation, she went, and it changed her mood in a big way.

She got selected for the show, and won in her fourth attempt on the bid row. She lost her prizing game, but spun the wheel and won that before winning the final showcase.

Included in the avalanche of prizes she won was a new car, a Mini Cooper.

“And then they did the finale and I was like, ‘I won! I won a car! I won a washer and dryer.’ Sorry,” she said, fighting back tears. “Oh, a year supply of Eggland’s Best, I think it was. I won a dishwasher. Two of the self-watering planters.”

Citizen said she definitely had an angel, her aunt, watching over her.

“In the morning when I woke up, I jumped up out of my sleep because we were up at 4:00 in the morning every morning,” she said. “So I said, ‘I’m going back to sleep.’ And I jumped up and it was like she came to me and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t know what this means,’ but I just felt like my angel was on my shoulder.”
