Lady A, Train and more: Sellout shows to rock beach area stages

Most folks seem to agree that this summer has flown by extremely fast. We are coming up on the second-to-last major weekend of the tourist season, and some college students have already returned to school.

But when it comes to live music at the beach, some of the biggest shows of the year are still in the pipeline.

In Selbyville, the outdoor Freeman Arts Pavilion has one of its biggest stretches of concerts of 2023 set for the coming days. Things kick off in fine fashion Friday, Aug. 25, when country royalty Lady A (which shortened its name from Lady Antebellum in 2020) plays to a sold-out crowd which snatched up tickets as soon as they went on sale way back in February.

Saturday, Aug. 26, will see the sold-out return of pop-rock radio darling Train. Blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will rock the house at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 ($64 to $84).

In Dewey Beach, the Bottle & Cork nightclub is also continuing to pack in the crowds for one musical event after another. At 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, The Legwarmers will pay tribute to the ‘80s ($20). In what has become an annual tradition, don’t be surprised if much of the Dewey crowd that night is also sporting era-appropriate clothing such as headbands, spandex and (of course) leg warmers.

Looking ahead to next week, country star Warren Zieders has a sold-out show scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 31.

In Ocean City, the high-energy party band Go Go Gadget will make its last Seacrets appearance of the year at 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24. As a gift to the nightclub’s regulars, there will be no cover with local ID or a pay stub that proves you work in OC.

The Burley Oak Brewing Company in Berlin will celebrate its 12th anniversary Saturday, Aug. 26, with national touring act Keller & the Keels performing at 6 p.m.
