Lady Gaga has bravely revealed a painful history of rape that she specified as being "repeated" during a sit-down with Oprah Winfrey.

The "Born This Way" singer is likely finding her name topping search engine results following her Saturday talk on the launch night of Oprah's "2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus" tour, although fans have already been responding to the news.

Gaga revealed that she developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of being "repeatedly raped" when she was 19.

The video posted to Oprah's Instagram on Sunday showed Gaga backstage and Oprah walking out to speak with her. Gaga may have been sporting bright pink hair and bold lipstick, but there was a vulnerability to her that was marked. Her body language was meek, the grandiose stage gestures were nowhere to be seen – it was just Stefani Germanotti (real name).

"You were so real," Oprah said as she hugged the singer – Oprah herself even seemed lost for words.

As soon as Oprah approached Gaga, the singer and actress was seen fighting back tears. Winfrey herself was also crying in a moment that was ultimately very moving, very raw, and the impetus for a giant fan response.

Speaking candidly, Lady Gaga opened up.

"I was raped repeatedly when I was 19 years old, and I also developed PTSD as a result of being raped and also not processing that trauma," the star said.

She stated that the attacks were performed by someone she knew from her days as a child.

"I all of a sudden became a star and was traveling the world going from hotel room to garage to limo to stage, and I never dealt with it, and then all of a sudden I started to experience this incredible intense pain throughout my entire body that mimicked the illness I felt after I was raped," she added.

It's worth noting that fan responses to this video were made by users following Oprah – and not necessarily Gaga – but the response was clear. People were moved beyond words.

"The love and respect between you two is so admirable! I wanted to cry in this moment, too," one fan wrote.

"I'm not crying you're crying 😓❤️ so much love and respect for these two 🙌🏾❤️," another said.

"OMG THIS MELTED MY HEART" was another response, with one fan simply saying: "Omg I’m crying."

Oprah herself is a victim of sexual violence. The talk shown host was raped as a child, recalling her experience as a 9-year-old victim.

“He took me to an ice cream shop — blood still running down my leg — and bought me ice cream," she said.

Winfrey and Gaga are likely inspiring millions of women around the world to fight all forms of sexual abuse. Certainly, this reveal brought out an emotional response. Indeed, Oprah used #BigBiteofBravery to caption her video.
