Lady Gaga makes a face-forward fashion statement at the 2020 MTV VMAs
While it isn't possible for anything to stand out more than Lady Gaga and her multiple elaborate costume changes, which, at this point, are iconic, during the '2020 MTV Video Music Awards' Sunday night, Gaga's series of couture face masks were straight up next level. Starting with a pink Hannibal Lecter look during her acceptance speech for the "Best Collaboration" award, Gaga later showed up in a leather shield with prosthetic rhino horns to accept the "Song of the Year" award, rocked an epic gas-masked performance of "911," "Rain on Me," and "Stupid Love," went a little simpler with a small silver mask when she won "Artist of the Year" and, finally, ended in a leather spiked and chained mask while posing with her awards from the night. "Be kind, mask up. Be brave. And braver all the time," Gaga shouted during her performance in between songs. Wearing a mask was clearly Gaga's underlying message throughout the night, and the pop diva even urged viewers to mask up, when she accepted MTV's first-ever "Tricon Award." "I love you. Stay safe. Speak your mind. I might sound like a broken record, but wear a mask. It's a sign of respect. Thank you," stated Gaga.
