Earlier this month, a judge ruled that the Grammy winner wouldn’t have to pay a $500,000 reward to Jennifer McBride — an accomplice in the 2021 kidnapping of her two dogs Koji and Gustavto.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, this was the award money that was offered for the pets at the time.

In February, McBride, 53, filed a lawsuit against the A Star is Born singer for the reward plus $1.5 million in additional damages, with her lawyer arguing that by not honoring the "no questions asked" section on the reward notice, Gaga was breaching contract by failing to pay. They also claimed fraud by false promises and fraud by misrepresentation.

Judge Holly J. Fujie, however, stated in her court order that McBride's complaint was “legally insufficient in its entirety” because of her “involvement in the theft” and that she was “not entitled to thereafter benefit from their wrongdoing by seeking to enforce the contract."

McBride was indicted and pleaded no contest to charges of receiving stolen property last year.
