Lacey Chabert has her own real-life Hallmark love story with her husband, David Nehdar.

The Mean Girls star has been tight-lipped about her personal life, including details surrounding her romance. The couple have maintained a low-key relationship over the years, with Chabert seldom discussing her husband or their marriage in interviews. She didn’t announce their engagement or reveal her husband’s name until after their wedding.

Chabert spoke about her decision to keep her private life, including her wedding, under wraps to PEOPLE in June 2014, explaining, “I didn’t want it to feel like an event.”

“I wanted it to be personal,” she added. “He’s not in the business and we like our privacy, and I just think relationships are hard enough without the opinion of strangers. So we try to keep it as personal and private as possible.”

Chabert and Nehdar wed in December 2013 but kept their nuptials a secret throughout the holiday season. After the new year, she announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that she had married her "best friend" and "love of her life" a few weeks prior. The couple also share one child, daughter Julia Mimi Bella Nehdar, born in September 2016.

So, who is Lacey Chabert’s husband? Here’s everything to know about David Nehdar and his relationship with the actress.

Though Chabert described herself as incredibly aware, her husband was able to sneak one thing past her — their engagement.

Much like her character in Crossword Mysteries, the actress likens herself to an investigator, but she had no idea about Nehdar’s plans. Chabert said during an October 2019 interview on Home & Family, “I’m very nosy, and if something’s going on, I’m going to know about it because I’m very sensitive. I pick up on little things ... so I’m hard to surprise.”

Chabert said that she had previously asked her sister, Crissy Chabert Taylor, to tell her if Nehdar was planning on proposing so she could get a manicure for the special moment. Although this didn't happen, it didn't take away from the relationship milestone.

“So there I am, so shocked and surprised that I literally don’t know what’s going on until he’s on one knee actually saying the words ‘Will you marry me?’ ” she said.

Chabert continued: “Because I’m like, ‘What are you doing? A box? You weren’t supposed to buy me jewelry, we’re going to save money.’ He’s like, ‘Just be quiet.’ Of course, we’re both crying.”

Chabert and Nehdar said "I do" on Dec. 22, 2013.

Reflecting on her wedding during a September 2018 interview with Extra, Chabert opened up about several of the wedding mishaps she experienced, explaining, “All of the things that I worried about would go wrong, a lot of them did go wrong, and in the end, it didn’t matter.”

“The flowers didn’t show up here ... They played the wrong song walking down the aisle ... I was like, ‘No, no, that’s not the song,’ " she added, sharing that she had picked out "Pachelbel's Canon."

She described her wedding to PEOPLE as “perfect chaos” and said the nuptials were planned in six weeks since she was shooting a movie.

“The caterer quit two days before, my sisters’ dresses didn’t arrive and one of my shoes broke — crazy stuff like that,” she said. “It was just nuts, but it was perfect at the same time ... I think the highlight was having my dad walk me down the aisle."

In October 2019, she revealed an Easter egg for fans during her interview with BUILD Series and said that she had worn her wedding dress in one of the various Hallmark Christmas movies she’s worked on.

Since exchanging vows, Chabert has also shared small glimpses of her special day on social media, though none of the photos included her husband. In one shot, she posed with her sister, who served as her maid of honor. Another snap captured the bride smiling mid-dance, while she posted a different picture of her sitting down in her wedding gown paired with the caption, “Just patiently waiting to walk down the aisle.”

Chabert and Nehdar welcomed their first child, daughter Julia Mimi Bella, on Sept. 1, 2016.

Before her daughter was born, the actress told PEOPLE in July 2015 that she and her husband “absolutely” wanted to start a family.

“I’m not exactly sure when, but I came from a big family, and I’ve always dreamed of having my own children and a big family [for] myself,” she explained. “So it’s definitely something of utmost importance to me — eventually though, not in a rush.”

Chabert reflected on how her life changed after becoming a mother during a November 2018 appearance on Access Hollywood. At the time, she said motherhood was “the hardest job,” adding, “Being a mom has taught me I am so much stronger than I ever thought.”

In other interviews, Chabert has spoken about her daughter, including her “sassy” behavior as a toddler. The actress recalled a hilarious story on The Kelly Clarkson Show about her then-5-year-old watching a few scenes with Nehdar while she was at work.

"[Julia] goes, 'Mommy, I didn't know you were Gretchen Wieners. Did you know that was your name?' ” Chabert said. “It's so funny even hearing that name come out of her mouth.”

While Chabert said she enjoys social media to engage with her fans, she also expressed that she likes to be able to control what photos are taken of her and her daughter. In an October 2019 BUILD Series interview, she explained, “I think it’s nice to be able to be a little more in control about that.”

“I’m a very private person, and my private life is obviously the most precious thing in my life, so I’m very protective over my family,” Chabert said.

The actress said that as a parent, she likes that she can decide what she shares publicly, especially since welcoming her daughter.

“As a parent now, I think that parents should obviously be in control of when and where their child’s picture is shown or shared, or not,” she added. “That’s everyone’s personal decision and I think that’s been made a lot easier with social media.”

Since the birth of her daughter, Chabert has had to balance work with being a mother. During a March 2017 appearance on the BUILD Series, the actress reflected on achieving her childhood dream to be a working actor but said that her “priorities have definitely shifted” since becoming a mom.

The Party of Five alum revealed that her decision to accept projects used to depend on whether her husband could join her and if it worked for their schedules.

“Now, [Julia's] the most important thing, and it’s not only about my marriage but also what works for the family and the baby," Chabert said. "I am lucky that my job allows me to bring her to set with me, which is really nice.”

She also cited her family as her support system as she navigated the waters as a working mother, telling BUILD Series, “I’ve learned to ask for help. I have a very supportive husband, a very supportive family, and I’ve learned to ask for help and you just kind of figure it out as you go and do your best.”
