‘La La Land’ & ‘I Am Not Your Negro’ Win Hamptons Audience Awards

The Hamptons Film Festival today said Lionsgate’s musical La La Land starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone won the fest’s Audience Award for Narrative Feature. Magnolia Pictures’ I Am Not Your Negro from Raoul Peck won the Audience Award for Documentary Feature, and Netflix’s The White Helmets won the Audience Award for Best Short Film.

The 24th annual fest wrapped Sunday after which it unveiled its juried winners including Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov’s Glory taking the top prize for Best Narrative Feature, and Sony Pictures Classics’ The Eagle Huntress winning Best Documentary Feature.

La La Land launched a fest run in Telluride ahead of its December 9 limited release. Peck’s I Am Not Your Negro, re-imagining author James Baldwin’s unfinished novel on the status of race in America, next plays the New York Film Festival.
