Taylor Swift Is Having A Huge Year
Taylor Swift is having a huge year, returning to the music scene with her hit album Lover. The Los Angeles Staples Center features a massive banner featuring Swift, celebrating her "Most Sold Out Performances" status, which feel especially apt lately. However, despite the banner being installed back in 2015 during her 1989 tour, it has recently been seen as a jinx by fans of the NHL Team, the LA Kings.
Superstition Strikes Again
The fan superstition around the banner got so intense that the Kings released a statement and started covering the banner during home games. Michael Altieri, senior VP of marketing, communications, and content for the Kings and AEG Sports, told the Los Angeles Times:
"The connection to our fans is our highest priority and through our engagement they have made it clear that the banner shouldn’t be part of their Kings game experience. We didn’t see an issue in covering it for our games and in fact see it as an opportunity to show our fans that we hear them."
They Should Have Just Left A Blank Space
Bailey, the LA Kings' mascot, tweeted out:
"We are undefeated when the Taylor Swift banner is covered up!"
This feels like a bit of a stretch, considering they have only played a single game this season (7-4 against the Nashville Predators), but sports superstition has always been and always will be very strong.
