LA Film Festival Pic ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ Scores Brainstorm Media Deal

EXCLUSIVE: Brainstorm Media has acquired rights to A Midsummer Night’s Dream, writer-director Casey Wilder Mott’s feature helming debut that premiered this year at the Los Angeles Film Festival. A spring 2018 theatrical release in multiple markets is planned, followed by a summer VOD bow.

Mott’s adaption of Shakespeare’s play reimagines the story as a modern Hollywood fairy tale and starts Rachael Leigh Cook, Paz de la Huerta, Avan Jogia, Fran Kranz, Ted Levine, Hamish Linklater, Lily Rabe, Mia Doi Todd, Charity Wakefield, Saul Willams and Finn Wittrock.

Mott, Joshua Skurla, Fran Kranz and Douglas Matejka are producers via their 5B Productions and Empyrean Pictures. The deal was negotiated by ICM Partners and Brainstorm’s Michelle Shwarztein.

Brainstorm’s recent releases include the James Franco- and Zachary Quinto-starring I Am Michael and Katherine Dieckmann’s Strange Weather toplined by Holly Hunter.
