La Brea Final Season Trailer Teases Eve’s Fate — And Hey, Is That Gavin’s Sister…?

The first trailer for La Brea’s third and final season features a T. Rex, sure, but there’s lot more going on than that.

The teaser trailer above, released on Friday by NBC, gives us a sense of the chaos that has ensued after — concurrent with Eve’s mysterious vanishing — a bazillion auroras appeared in the sky outside, allowing people (and dinosaurs!) from other eras to drop in on 10,000 B.C.

We also get a shadowy glimpse of what Eve is up to since blipping away inside the malfunctioning portal room at the close of the Season 2 finale. And there are at least two peeks at the “mystery character” being played by recurring guest star Emily Wiseman (The Gloaming).

Some fans over the summer speculated that Wiseman, who popped up in male series lead Eion Macken’s Instagram, was quietly brought on as a recast for original cast member Natalie Zea. But since,a s TVLine reported this week, Zea will appear in Season 3 (if only a little bit), maybe Wiseman instead is playing the sister that Gavin didn’t know he had, but learned about from his dying father James.

James, though, I will remind you, had warned Gavin that said sibling was ruthless and threatening, neither of which Wiseman’s character seems to be in the trailer footage. (But she is wearing black leather!)

La Brea kicks off Season 3 on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 9/8c, with the episode “Sierra.” In that opener, after the clearing is destroyed in a dinosaur attack, Levi, Sam and the other survivors must find a new home to live. Gavin meanwhile discovers a clue about where Eve has gone, though tracking the lead down results in more tragic consequences.
