The L Word: Generation Q is a drama series that serves as a sequel to The L Word (2004-2009). Set in Los Angeles, just like the original series, the plot revolves around a group of queer individuals as they navigate life and all its complexities. Season 1 premiered on Showtime on December 8, 2019, Season 2 on August 8, 2021, and Season 3 on November 20, 2022. If you are wondering whether there will be a fourth season, this is what we have discovered.

Here’s all we know about The L Word: Generation Q Season 4 and whether or not it’s coming out.

Is there a The L Word: Generation Q Season 4 release date?

There is no The L Word: Generation Q Season 4 release date as the series was canceled after Season 3.

In March 2023, about two months after the release of the Season 3 finale, it was announced that Showtime had canceled The L Word: Generation Q after the show’s third season, though the network simultaneously greenlit The L Word: New York, which will reportedly be a reboot/spin-off of the original 2004 series. A month later, Deadline reported that The L Word: Generation Q had been withdrawn from Showtime platforms.

The cast of The L Word: Generation Q includes Jennifer Beals as Bette Porter-Kennard, Kate Moennig as Shane McCutcheon, Leisha Hailey as Alice Pieszecki, Arienne Mandi as Dani Nùñez, Sepideh Moafi as Gigi Ghorbani, Leo Sheng as Micah Lee, Jacqueline Toboni as Sarah Finley, Rosanny Zayas as Sophie Suarez, Jordan Hull as Angelica “Angie” Porter-Kennard, Jamie Clayton as Tess Van De Berg, and more.

Why The L Word: Generation Q Season 4 isn’t happening

The L Word: Generation Q Season 4 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the show was canceled after three seasons. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.

The official synopsis for The L Word: Generation Q reads:

“In this sequel to The L Word, we continue to follow the intermingled lives of Bette Porter, Alice Pieszecki and Shane McCutcheon, along with a new generation of diverse, self-possessed LGBTQIA+ characters experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in L.A.”
