L.A. County RV Park Provides Community For People On The Verge Of Homelessness

Stewart owns and operates a long-term residential park in Los Angeles County for R.V. occupants living on the verge of homelessness. “These are R.V.s that aren’t really accepted at other R.V. parks,” he says, noting that there are hundreds of residents, including between 80 and 100 children, who are able to take the bus to school. Stewart says the R.V. park is a community with a low crime rate whose residents look after one another. Watch the video above to hear what Stewart says happened when local city officials attempted to “run out” nearly 281 residents in 2019. Part one of this two-part Dr. Phil, “Homelessness in America,” airs Thursday. Then, on Friday’s conclusion, “Homelessness in America: Is There a Solution?,” Dr. Phil talks with a couple who went from residing in a condo in the suburbs to living in Stewart’s R.V. park with their four children.
