Kym Marsh talks about her movie debut in Christmas rom-com The Loss Adjuster

Kym Marsh has been keeping busy since leaving Coronation Street in December 2019, landing a new daily BBC One show with Morning Live and making her movie debut in Christmas rom-com The Loss Adjuster.
The movie – out now in cinemas and available to watch on the likes of Prime Video and iTunes – follows Martin Dyer (Luke Goss) who is enduring the worst day of his life. He's not only in dire financial straits, but his wife Angie (Marsh) is leaving him too and all just in time for Christmas.
Talking to Digital Spy, Marsh revealed that the movie was pitched to her as she was due to leave the cobbles for pastures new.
"I read the script, and thought it was a great story, and it obviously had a fantastic cast – although not everybody was involved at that stage – so it was just a nice, little project, really, and it was something that I felt was a great opportunity for me," she recalled.

"My character has not always been the best wife, I don't think, to Martin. I think you get a sense that she feels that she's been hard done by somehow, and has not had the life that she thought that she might have. And, yeah, I think she's a little bit hard on him, to be fair."
The cast is a veritable who's-who of soap stars with Marsh appearing alongside the likes of former EastEnders stars Lorna Fitzgerald and Martin Kemp, former Emmerdale star Cathy Tyson, Casualty's Vas Blackwood and the Dynasty legend that is Dame Joan Collins.
Unfortunately for Marsh, she didn't get to share any scenes with Collins, with most of her scenes spent with Goss.
"I worked a little bit with Cathy Tyson. I remember Band of Gold quite clearly. I just think she's a fantastic actress, and it was brilliant to work with her. She was great fun and we got on really well. I worked with Martin Kemp as well, and he was just lovely," she continued.
"I was gutted not to work with Joan, but she only worked with Luke. Her character only really interacted with Luke. But yeah, the cast is just stellar, isn't it? It's just fantastic. I was very fortunate to be among those wonderful players."
As with her co-star Lorna Fitzgerald, The Loss Adjuster marks Marsh's movie debut and, unsurprisingly, it turned out to be a "very different" experience to filming on Coronation Street.
"Timings aren't always what they're supposed to be, because you have to kind of go with it. It takes much longer to film one scene than it would on a show like Corrie. We're filming, sometimes, 12 scenes a day on a show like Coronation Street," she explained.
"But if you're in a movie, it can take you most of the day to film a scene. It's very different. So everything was different, really, but in good ways."
And her experience on The Loss Adjuster hasn't put Marsh off potential future movie roles as she continues her post-Corrie acting career.
"I'd love [to do more movies]. That's one of the reasons I left the show, because I wanted to go out and experience other things. You feel like, 'I've done that'. In terms of working on a film, I don't think you could get anything more different, really," she concluded.
The Loss Adjuster is out now in cinemas, as well as on DVD and available to rent or buy on Prime Video, iTunes and other video-on-demand services.
