Kylie Jenner's Assistant Quit To Focus On Becoming An Instagram Influencer

Kylie Jenner's former assistant Victoria Villarroel is setting the record straight amid new reports that she quit her job working for the make-up mogul. It was first reported by Us Weekly that she had left her role to focus on becoming a social media star in her own right.

"Victoria wants to be an influencer in her own right and is focusing on that now," a source told the outlet. "Kylie and Victoria are still friends and close. Kylie doesn't have any bad feelings about Victoria going off to do her own thing and is supportive."

On Tuesday, Villarroel took to her Instagram Story to clarify what happened.

“I worked with Kylie for 5 years and she became one of my closest friends. We both decided it was time to grow without each other professionally about a year ago! she’s still one of my best friends and our relationship has only gotten stronger,” she wrote. “Now let’s focus our time and energy on other things! a lot of happening in the world right now.”

It turns out that she actually stopped working for Jenner last year. She talked on the "Girl Cult" podcast back in April about how she got the gig.

“I found this girl named Jen on Instagram randomly,” Villarroel recalled. “She posted a photo of her interns at the office and it seemed like fun. I was like, ‘I want to be an intern here!’ So I messaged her on Instagram, and she didn’t hit me back. She had a personal blog, and I clicked on it, and she had an email. I emailed her, and she didn’t email me back. So I tried again … and then, boom, she emailed me back.”

“It was easy,” she said of the interview process with Jenner Communications. “We just talked about me, my experience [interning] at Vogue, what I want to do in the future. It’s all about personality. We just got along. I’m not a crazy person, I’m trustworthy. We just liked each other.”

After serving as an intern and then an office manager, she eventually became Jenner's main assistant.

“[As an executive assistant], you basically do scheduling, travel, events,” she said. “Like the Met Gala, you have to coordinate everything. Or any appearance that she has, award shows, the stylists, booking all her appointments and keeping her calendar up to date.

“I’ve learned a lot from her and her family,” Villarroel said. “They all have their s--t together, for sure. They are inspiring.”
