Kylie Jenner Had Her Own Marilyn Monroe Moment at the 2024 Met Gala

Regardless of whether it makes best dressed lists or not, a Kylie Jenner Met Gala look always gets everyone’s attention.

This year is no exception, as Jenner arrived at the 2024 Met Gala dressed in a custom Oscar de la Renta gown with an oversized skirt and pointed bust. According to a press release from the brand, the dress shape was inspired by “many of the subjects’ classic gowns in Cecil Beaton’s photography.” Worth noting: The celebrated photographer famously captured Marilyn Monroe, who is often remembered for her own pointed bust dresses.

Considering that Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian made so many headlines for her own Marilyn Monroe debacle at the Met Gala, it’s an interesting choice!

Also interesting: Her boyfriend Timothee Chalamet was not in attendance, meaning we were not blessed with their red-carpet debut as a couple there. Alas! There’s always next year.

It’s hard to believe, but Kylie Jenner and her sisters were once considered “not real enough” celebrities to even be invited to the Met, but then Kim Kardashian made her debut and they all followed soon after.

And Jenner has since made her own mark on the event, with a stable of memorable looks to her name. Like, who could forget her Lady in Purple Versace look from 2019, complete with a matching lavender wig?

Or my personal favorite (controversial!) Kylie Jenner Met Gala look: her “wedding dress with a trucker hat” look from 2022. I’m sorry, but it gave me Mary Kate from It Takes Two, and I loved it.
