With a music producer father and a dancer/choreographer mother, Kylie Cantrall grew up with a front-row seat in the entertainment industry. As a result, music biopics struck a particular chord with her, and none more so than VH1’s mega hit CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.
On this episode of The Spark Parade, Cantrall explains how she loved the eerily accurate performances and music video recreations. Yet, it was the incorporation of TLC’s phenomenal back catalog that was the clincher. She was so hooked on the movie that she watched it dozens of times, still considering it to be one of her all-time favorites to this day.
“This was the first female musical group biopic I had ever seen, and I was just obsessed from the get-go,” she explains. “I was like, ‘Oh my god, these girls are incredible, I’m obsessed with this story.’ So, it was only a matter of time before I started researching them and became obsessed with their music.”
