The status of Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky's relationship continues to raise eyebrows amid their ongoing separation.

The estranged spouses announced their separation months earlier but are yet to start their divorce proceedings. While Umansky previously hinted at a possible reconciliation, his partner shared contradicting thoughts about their romance. Now, sources have revealed the pair are taking therapy sessions separately.

Most estranged couples without a divorce plan typically resort to marriage counseling or couples therapy sessions to resolve their differences and save their marriage. However, in Richards and Umansky's case, the former lovebirds are doing the opposite.

Instead of taking a joint counseling session, sources recently revealed the pair are engaged in individual therapy meetings. According to the insiders, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star and her former beau are not working on the problems that led to their separation.

The informants told TMZ that the estranged pair wanted space to explore individually. Additionally, the sources confirmed that there are still no divorce discussions, and neither is a reconciliation certain. In an insider's words:

"Look, they may get back together, but they may not. They just don't know right now. They will decide at some point whether they stay married, but not now."

Speculations about a reconciliation started early last month after Umansky teased fans about mending his broken bridges with Richards. The "Dancing With The Stars" competitor noted that his relationship struggles with the mother of four will be highlighted on this season of the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."

"You're gonna see our relationship kind of leading into the difficult parts of the relationship; there's no question about all that," the Mexican native explained. "But it's gonna be a really fun, entertaining season for people who like to watch drama — there's gonna be a lot of drama, that's for sure."

Regarding the ambiguous state of the estranged couple's relationship, Umansky claimed the pair were far from ending their longtime marriage. In his words: "The reality is… we are officially separated, but we're not throwing in the towel." The real estate mogul clarified that they were "fighting for this," adding:

"We’ve been married for 27 years, 26 amazing years. Kyle is my best friend; she’s an amazing human. I love her… And marriages go through difficult times, sometimes, and that’s what we’re dealing with right now."

Additionally, The Agency founder assured "RHOBH" fans that they would be the first to know about changes in the estranged pair's relationship. "We'll let our fans know when we know what our life is gonna be like, but in the meantime, we're fighting [for our marriage]," Umansky said.

Days before sources shared Richards and Umansky's individual therapy sessions, the "Halloween Kills" actress had described her separation from the real estate mogul as a "straight-up divorce." Although insiders clarified the duo had not enlisted lawyers for a divorce, they claim the pair have no prenuptial agreement.

Sources noted the intentions to finalize the end of the former couple's 27-year marriage were present, but millions of dollars are at stake if the pair follow the divorce route. Richards has earned significant wealth thanks to her reality TV career on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."

In Umansky's case, the Mexican native has a reported net worth of $100M with nearly $5B in real estate sales. The 53-year-old has his estranged wife's family to thank for his success, as he previously earned meager wages during his time in the fashion industry.

The "DWTS" contestant began his real estate career by working for his estranged partner's father, Rick Hilton, before opening his company, The Agency, in 2011. Given the duo's wealth, a divorce proceeding without a prenuptial agreement may result in a heated battle to split their assets.

At the moment, the former couple's future remains uncertain, but the ball may lie in Richards' court. The mother of four is responsible for pulling the plug on the pair's marriage, a revelation she made during a recent appearance on "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen."
