Twitter is loving Superman's grandpa, a sordid love affair, and a cool villain on 'Krypton'

Syfy's new series Krypton has a lot of new fans, according to Twitter . A sort of prequel to Superman, the series is set about 200 years before Kal-El's birth. The main character, Seg-El, is Superman's grandfather. Throughout the pilot episode there were familiar bits and Easter eggs for franchise fans, like the Fortress of Solitude and the infamous red cape. But there were also surprising plotlines. Seg-El's love interest is Lyta-Zod. Yes, Zod. As in one of Superman's greatest enemy, General Zod. So there is a bit of a Romeo and Juliet vibe going on. Fans seemed especially fond of the series villain, Brainiac. Brainiac is described as "It moves from planet to planet conquering civilizations, destroying billions of lives. It's known as the Collector of Worlds." Fans seemed particular impressed with the high production value of both the CGI elements of Brainiac and the practical effects. And many are looking forward to seeing more of the supervillain.
