Kristin Cavallari’s new relationship with Mark Estes has been brewing for quite some time.

The couple — who Cavallari, 37, hard launched on her Instagram on Tuesday with a selfie from their romantic vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico — have been “dating longer than people think,” a source tells PEOPLE, but “have kept it very private.”

The mother-of-three met Estes, 24, on “social media,” the source says, and “they’re serious enough now that they were ready to go public.”

“They’re really happy together. He’s been so great to her and is just a really nice guy,” the insider adds. “He’s not your typical 24 year old. She’s having a great time and is living her best life with him.”

“He makes me happy 🤍,” Cavallari wrote in the caption of the selfie she shared with Estes, announcing their relationship. He shared it to his own Instagram Story afterwards, too, adding “❤️❤️.”

Later that same day, the former college football player posted the Laguna Beach star on his social media, too, as he shared a PDA-filled TikTok from their tropical getaway.

In the TikTok, the couple sang along to the words of “(Kissed You) Good Night” by Gloriana as they stood in front of a pool with the ocean behind them and a bright blue sky above. After Estes lip-synched to Cavallari, she returned the favor, and he pulled her in for a kiss.

She then rolled her head back with a laugh before hopping into the Montana State University and Montana Tech alum’s arms. From there, Estes carried her toward the camera, his arm wrapped securely around her torso, and one hand at her lower back.

Cavallari’s relationship news comes after she’s been open about how she’s navigated the dating world in the years since her divorce from Jay Cutler in 2020. The pair had been married for seven years and share sons Camden, 7, Jaxon, 5, and daughter Saylor, 4.

In June, she told E! News that dating was “really not important” to her as she was focusing on being a mom “first and foremost.”

“I've had a lot of fun in the last few years, just really focusing on my friends and getting to hang out with my friends again, because I didn't get to do that for a long time,” she said. “Really, when you're having little babies and three babies, essentially, at one point in time, that was my world. And so it's been nice to just have fun again."

As for what she would want in a partner, Cavallari said, “I want to meet someone organically.”

She’d previously admitted that she was using social media to date, though she had a few parameters on that method.

"I can't filter through all of my DMs, but I can see those blue checkmarks, honey!" The Hills alum said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in 2022. "I don't like people that often, and I'm pretty picky, I guess, but I'm not gonna settle. I'm gonna stay picky."

Cavallari also said she would prefer someone who was not famous, adding, “I really, in my head — my ideal man is a businessman who no one knows."
