Meet Kristen Stewart's parents.

Born on April 9, 1990, the Love Lies Bleeding actress is the daughter of John and Jules-Mann Stewart. Stewart is the second-born child of John and Jules, who have four children in total.

Like Stewart, both of her parents are in the entertainment industry, particularly in film working behind the camera.

"My mom was a script supervisor and my dad was a stage manager forever, my whole life," Stewart told Kevin Hart during an interview on Hart to Heart in August 2022. "I could tell they loved it so much," she said of her parents' jobs.

"I just wanted to hang out and make movies because my parents did that," she said. "I wanted so badly to be a part of the crew. I wanted to make movies so badly."

Jules and John share four children together: Cameron, Stewart, Taylor and Dana. Cameron, who is Kristen's biological brother, is the couple's first-born child, while Taylor and Dana were adopted.

Cameron is an actor, who made his film debut in 2012's K-11, a prison drama directed and co-written by Jules, per IMDb. Fewer details are known about Taylor and Dana, as they live much more private lives. However, Taylor previously accompanied Kristen on red carpets during her Twilight years.

Her parents are divorced

Jules filed for divorce from John on Aug. 17, 2012, after 27 years of marriage, according to documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Jules cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and the documents stated that the pair had been separated since June 15, 2010.

Jules is a filmmaker and writer

Jules is a script supervisor and filmmaker who has credits in many projects including The Phantom (1996), Mortal Kombat (1995), The 6th Day (2000) and xXx (2002), per her IMDb bio.

After spending three decades as a script supervisor, Jules made her directorial debut in the film K-11 in 2012. She told the Los Angeles Times that emerging from her famous daughter's shadow amid her Twilight success was "frustrating" at the time.

“It’s extremely frustrating for me, because she’s 22 years old and I’m almost 60,” Jules told the outlet. “In terms of life experience — hello! — I have it all over her. It’s not like I came out of nowhere.”

She continued, "Most of the female directors that are successful in this business came up through the ranks. And I’m hoping to follow in their footsteps." She added, "I have my own career. My own thing going on. And I would hate to think that it’s because of my 22-year-old that I got to direct a movie.”

John has worked as a stage manager for various series and radio shows such as Fear Factor and On Air with Ryan Seacrest. He has also worked red carpet productions for major award shows like the Oscars, the Grammys and the Golden Globes.

They inspired Kristen's acting career

Stewart was influenced at a young age to pursue a career in entertainment, thanks to her parents' involvement in the industry. "I wait for my parents to come home with little mini candy bars from Craft Services since I was like, born," she said on Hart on Heart.

She enjoyed spending time with her mom at work because of the "quiet and stillness" and "the feeling of everyone working together to suspend some fragile bubble of make-believe," wrote Rolling Stone.

In contrast, "she hated" going to work with her dad due to the "rushing around and commotion," noted the outlet. "I would hide in the engineers’ room and play bass with them," said Stewart in her cover story interview.

Stewart realized at age 8 that acting was the only job that allowed kids to miss school, so she asked her mom to take her to an audition seminar, and the rest is history.

Stewart has previously spoken about her dad and how proud he is of her success in Hollywood. "Oh, he loves it. He's a total famewhore. Like 100%, so true," she joked on Conan in November 2012.

Jules, too, has spoken about her daughter's success and how she's tried to protect her privacy amid fame, like "designing a garage-door entrance" so Stewart could drive her car "directly inside without being photographed."

Jules also built an archive in file cabinets of her daughter's career. According to the LA Times, she collected press clips, props and pieces from her wardrobe.

"She even painted an illustration on the door leading to Kristen’s office that reads 'Stew’s shoes' — it depicts Converse sneakers, combat boots and high heels — meant to illustrate the different sides of the actress," the outlet noted.
