Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brian Find Love and Vengeance in Trailer for A24 Romantic Thriller ‘Love Lies Bleeding’

Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian have their hands full — in terms of love and murder — in the first trailer for the A24 romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding.

Directed and co-written by Saint Maud’s Rose Glass, the upcoming movie also stars Dave Franco, Ed Harris, Jena Malone and Anna Baryshnikov in a story that sees two lovers caught in a series of bloody, bullet-filled confrontations.

Stewart stars as reclusive gym manager Lou, who finds herself falling hard for Jackie (O’Brian) after the latter begins working out at her business. Jackie is an ambitious bodybuilder who is just headed through town on her way to Las Vegas in pursuit of her bodybuilding competition dream.

Soon, the duo become physically and emotionally entangled — not just in their own romance, but in a series of increasingly violent encounters involving Lou’s father (Harris) and a man who works at his shooting range (Franco).

In the more than two-minute trailer, O’Brian’s character can be seen getting a job at Lou’s father’s shooting range, a woman ready to “do anything.” That leads her down a path to a place where blood, money, extortion — and even murder — are just a choice away. With Jackie now caught in the web of Lou’s criminal family, she teases, “We’ll just need to fight back.”

“Looks like you’ve got your hands full,” Baryshnikov’s character says.

Film4 developed the film — first announced in April 2022 and co-written by Weronika Tofilska — alongside the filmmakers, with A24 producing with Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman for Escape Plan Productions.

It is slated to premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, with a wide release set for March 8, 2024.
