Kristen Stewart's transformation into Princess Diana is in full swing. The actress was recently photographed on the set of her new film, Spencer, in which she plays the late royal, wearing a perfectly '80s tartan number that looks plucked right out of Lady Di's closet.

While filming in Germany, Stewart wore a red-and-green plaid coat with gold oversized buttons and a black lapel. Diana had been seen wearing a similar piece, designed by Catherine Walker, multiple times, including a 1989 visit to Hampshire.

Like the princess, Stewart layered the patterned outerwear over a cream-colored turtleneck and accessorized with pearl earrings. She also wore sunglasses and was seen in Adidas sneakers, likely for downtime between takes. Best of all, she gave us our first full look at her fluffy blonde 'do for the role. Stewart previously explained that she would be using a wig to look the part.

"She has very architectural hair," she told Jimmy Kimmel last November, "so we're going to build it ... I don't think I can do it solely with my own hair."

Spencer is expected to be released later this year. The film, directed by Pablo Larraín, follows Diana over a particular weekend with the royal family at Sandringham, when she and Prince Charles decide to end their marriage. In a previous statement, Stewart described the feature as "an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life."

She added, "It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name; Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her."
