Kristen Bell Shows Off Her Childhood Mullet on ‘The Late Late Show’

Long before The Good Place star Kristen Bell was looking glamorous on the red carpet and all over television, she had a mullet. Bell joined James Corden on The Late Late Show, where Corden asked about her baseball past. Bell explained that growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, she played right field, shortstop, and catcher on an all-boys baseball team. Bell’s mother wanted her to fit in with the boys, so she cut her hair… into a mullet. And apparently it worked.

“I never had any problems, because everyone thought I was one of the little boys,” Bell said.

To which Corden responded, “Yeah. She basically made you look like the kid from Jerry Maguire.”

In an effort to stop other children from enduring a mullet haircut, Bell had some information for any parent thinking about cutting their child’s hair: “They’re no longer bangs if you take them back past the ear,” said Bell.
