Kristen Bell Shares Touching Tribute for Her 'Love' Dax Shepard's 49th Birthday: 'Happy' That 'I Found You

As the 'Good Place' alum celebrated her husband of 10 years on his birthday, her tribute to the 'Armchair Expert' podcast host featured a video montage set to a Bruno Mars song

Dax Shepard is someone Kristen Bell does not take for granted.

The actress marked her husband’s 49th birthday on Tuesday with a touching Instagram tribute, which included a lengthy caption applauding the Armchair Expert host’s skills as a dad and life partner alongside a video montage featuring some adorable shots of their family.

“Happy birthday my love 💜🎉🥳,” Bell, 43, wrote in the caption as she listed some of Shepard’s many loveable quirks, including his newly developed use of a “flashlight to read the menu,” his impressive diet of “175 g of protein a day” and boasting about how he “once had the hiccups for 72 hours.”

She added that Shepard, with whom she shares daughters Lincoln, 10, and Delta, 8, “taught our daughters how to change a tire,” “always riles the kids up before bedtime” and “never balks when I ask him to participate in a dress-up party.”

Bell then noted how the Parenthood alum also “loves his friends ferociously” as she additionally gushed: “I will never be able to articulate how happy I am that you were born, and that I found you.”

In the video montage, the Good Place actress included some hilarious shots of Shepard laying out in the sun, using his phone flashlight to read a menu, and fixing one of his daughter’s bikes, as well as some sweet couple shots. She also added some footage of Shepard, who she wed in 2013, with their daughters.

The Veronica Mars alum is never shy about her love for Shepard, nor about how wonderful of a father he is to their two kids. In December, she shared a shirtless photo of her husband in bed beside her, writing, "Look how cute this creature is. 💜💗”

Before the couple’s 10th wedding anniversary, which occurred in October, Bell told Entertainment Tonight that the key to their marriage is finding “common goals” — like their kids.

"People are like, 'Oh, I wouldn't be able to work with my husband or wife or partner.' For me, I want another common goal with him,” she said. “I respect him so much creatively. I have so much trust in him. Of course I want him to be my director or my scene partner."

There's “a deep sense of respect,” as well, Bell said, which has helped them weather conflicts.

"Understanding that your partner used to be a little person is the best thing you can do," she told the outlet.

She elaborated, "Sometimes if we're ever on the verge of a fight, one of us will say — it's usually Dax — 'I feel like 8-year-old Dax right now.’ And I'm able to see him like I see my kids, which is in a very different way and go, 'Oh yeah, you're a little person that had trauma and triggers and it's not about me.'"

As for how her husband talks about her, Shepard is also chock-full of compliments for his wife of a decade.

When she turned 43 in July, Shepard called her “the world’s hottest jujitsu practitioner. And that’s in addition to being the greatest mom, wife, sister and dog owner that this world has ever known.”
