Kristen Bell Mocked by Dax Shepard in Never-Before-Seen Wedding Photo

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard had the best $142 wedding in the history of $142 weddings — and here is more proof.

The Good Place actress, 36, took part in Throwback Thursday, posting a never-before-seen photo from their 2013 courthouse nuptials. The pic perfectly illustrates the couple’s playful union, with Kristen shedding genuine tears (not sloth level, but still) and Dax ruthlessly mocking her — at least for the photo op.

On Instagram, she wrote: “#tbt to when I cried at our wedding and @daxshepard thought it was really funny.”

The pair famously tied the knot in a supercasual ceremony in October 2013 — after gay marriage had been legalized. (They had vowed not to marry until their gay friends could do the same.) At the time, they had one daughter — now they have two — and didn’t invite any guests to the ceremony, instead having friends meet them afterward, with one pal bringing along a cake that read “The World’s Worst Wedding,” because nobody was invited.

In July, Bell shared photos for the first time of their nuptials during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

“We got married in a tiny room in the Beverly Hills courthouse,” she explained as candid images from the wedding filled the screen, “and it was still one of the best days of my life.”

Kristen and Dax’s marriage seems to be one of the more stable relationships in Hollywood (oops — did we jinx it by saying that?!), but it did get off to a rocky start. On the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards, Bell said that their union has gotten more solid over time.

“Our relationship was turbulent when we started,” the 36-year-old actress shared. “But there was a very strong attraction that was obviously physical but also emotional, mental, intellectual, and we worked through a lot of our own problems to get to a really good marriage.”

While Dax mocked his lady on their big day, he made up for it at the Golden Globes. On Wednesday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show, the couple talked about how Dax spotted Kristen’s celebrity crush — The OA star Riz Ahmed — and approached him so that he could introduce him to Kristen. Bell said she didn’t play shy with Ahmed, quipping, “Out of my mouth came, ‘I find you very attractive,'” to which Shepard just laughed.
