Kristen Bell on Hosting ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’: ‘I Thought I’d Be Nervous’

After delivering an emotional monologue on May 1 about his newborn son’s heart surgery, Jimmy Kimmel took a week off to be with his family — and fortunately for him, he has famous friends who don’t mind filling in for him at work. Last night actress Kristen Bell took over as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she interviewed her Good Place co-star Adam Scott and smoothly engineered a Frozen-themed promposal. “Like any normal human being, I am going back and wishing I did a thousand things differently,” Bell tells Yahoo TV. “But it was an incredible time. I thought I’d be nervous, but it was fun.”

Bell and her husband, Dax Shepard, are close friends with Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, so she was happy to help the host take a little paternity leave. “[Jimmy and Molly are] two of the most thoughtful, genuine human beings walking the planet,” she says. And though she’s busy with the second season of her NBC comedy The Good Place, Bell isn’t ruling out a return to the talk show arena in the future. “Maybe I’ll do it again. It’s kind of invigorating,” she says. “There’s an adrenaline rush with live TV.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live for free on Yahoo View.
