Korea Box Office: ‘Beasts’ Wins Second Weekend, Beats ‘Annoying Brother’

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” remained on top of the South Korean box office for a second weekend, accounting for 45% of the total weekend box office revenue. The Warner Bros. release earned $6.76 million from 896,000 admissions between Friday and Sunday for a total of $24.9 million after two weekends.

Opening on Thursday (Nov. 24), CJ Entertainment’s “My Annoying Brother” debuted in second. The bromantic comedy earned $7.12 million from 1.04 million admissions between Thursday and Sunday. Starring top K-pop boy band EXO’s Doh Kyung-soo (a.k.a. D.O) and star actor Jo Jung-suk, “Brother” sees the story of two hostile half-brothers that end up becoming a loving family.

Disney’s “Doctor Strange” remained in third, earning $736,000 between Friday and Sunday for a total of $40.1 million. The top three films together accounted for 87% of the total weekend box office.

Showbox’s “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned” recorded a decline of 79%, earning $312,000 for a total of $3.42 million after two weekends.
