Kool April Nites Friday: Cruise rolls into Redding after tri tip, music, show and shines

Events on Friday evening, April 26, kick off Kool April Nites classic car show weekend ― but not before four Redding businesses host show and shines with food and entertainment throughout the day.

Friday's biggest event, the Cruise, rolls out at 6:30 p.m. Drivers parade classic cars on a loop through central Redding until 8 p.m. in what's one of the most popular Kool April Nites events.

The cruise route runs clockwise from Dana Drive at the Mt. Shasta Mall, right onto Churn Creek Road, right onto Cypress Avenue, right onto Hilltop Drive and back onto Dana.

Bring a folding chair, a picnic blanket or just stand and wave to the drivers and their passengers.

The city closes off the route at 5 p.m., but people start arriving even earlier to stake their claim to their favorite spot on the sidewalk flanking the cruise route.

Admission is free.

Show and shines happening on Friday April 26:

  • O'Reilly Auto Parts and San Francisco Deli from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2395 Athens Ave. in Redding. This show and shine includes the deli's tri-tip and pulled pork sandwiches for sale. For more information call 530-244-1449.

  • Enterprise High School from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3411 Churn Creek Road in Redding. Activities include a 50/50 raffle, fundraisers and live musical entertainment by students. For more information call 530-222-6601.

  • Marquis Shasta Post Acute Rehab from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3550 Churn Creek Road in Redding. Activities include a pulled pork sandwich lunch for $5; funds raised go to charity and live classic rock music. For more information call 530-222-3630.

  • Mechanics Bank from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 185 Hartnell Ave. in Redding. Activities include classic rock music. Bank staff plan to dress in 1950s and '60s outfits. For more information call 530-221-2000.

Saturday is the big car show and other events including pancakes flipped by North State cowboys. Check back at redding.com for more Kool April Nites related events happening each day.
