Kona Grill's new special menu dilemma — beef or seafood?

Kona Grill is introducing a special Steak Night America deal for $39 per person in good timing for those looking to make Valentine's plans.

The Steak Night America menu is available from 2 p.m. until closing Sunday through Thursday and features one starter to share, a choice of two main courses and a creamy New York Cheesecake to close the meal on a sweet note.

"Kona Grill understands that after a month of holiday shopping, people may feel the need to stay in in January. However, the value offers provide a robust dining deal at an affordable cost for its guests," stated representatives for the franchise. The restaurants also offer a $3, $6 and $9 Happy Hour.

The franchise is known for its seafood, particularly sushi, so it's hard to select between beef or seafood on the special menu. For the appetizer, you can start with the Ribeye Meatballs, the Kona Calamari or a California Roll.

We tried the Ribeye Meatballs since we hadn't tried them before, and they were delicious. The pretty dish consists of four meatballs, each one sitting on whipped mashed potatoes and topped with chili glaze, shallots and shiitake mushrooms. The caramelized glaze adds a great, sweet flavor.

For the main course, guests can order the Sweet-Chili Glazed Salmon, the Big Island Ribeye, a Lemon Garlic Penne dish or a Poke Bowl.

Again, it was a hard choice, but we opted for the Sweet-Chile Glazed Salmon and the Big Island Ribeye. The 12-ounce steak is grilled to your liking and the garlic fingerling potatoes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

The Sweet-Chili Glazed Salmon, however, easily won us over with its glazed topping and over a bed of fried rice that was freshly made and full of flavor.

And if you know your cheesecake, the New York cheesecake slice does not disappoint! The cheesecake is creamy and smooth and topped generously with fresh raspberries and a raspberry sauce.

The restaurant has a great vibe for a dinner date, with beautiful lighting fixtures and a side fireplace. It's time to start dressing up and dining out, especially if you're still holding onto the drive-thru habit from the coronavirus era of 2020.

Great American Steakhouse has a $9.99 daily menu

Great American Steakhouse in the Northeast also offers a great special, $9.99, Monday through Friday.

The Daily Special includes burgers, tacos and salads, as well as a sirloin steak, fish and chips and country fried steak. The sirloin steak tacos come unassembled with a small cast-iron pan with the grilled steak and onions, a warmer with about six corn or flour tortillas and a serving of great toppings, including pico de gallo, salsa, cilantro, onion and lime.
