Kokomo Symphony Orchestra to hold annual TV Dinner Singalong

Oct. 25—From rock to disco, the local orchestra plans on offering something a little different this weekend.

The Kokomo Symphonic Society's annual TV Dinner Singalong Fundraiser will be held Saturday evening.

The show has a 1970s theme this year. Dressing up for the occasion is encouraged.

"If you've got a favorite T-shirt from one of your favorite rock 'n' roll bands, or if you want to get that leisure suit out of the mothballs and it still fits, you're welcome to wear that," Anamaria Shrock, president of the Symphonic Society, said at the Symphony's 50th anniversary concert.

The event includes dinner, music, trivia, a name that tune game and a silent auction.

The fundraiser will be held at The Experience in the Kokomo Country Club. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will kick off with a performance from the Symphony's string quartet.

A single ticket costs $60. However, if you have a group of friends who would like to join you, a table for 10 people costs $500. You can purchase tickets online at kokomosymphony.net or by calling 765-236-0251.

This year, the annual fundraiser is tied into the Symphony's 50th anniversary fundraising campaign. Orchestra leaders are attempting to raise $50,000 in 50 days — they were roughly $13,000 away as of Wednesday afternoon.
