Koe Wetzel Unveils 9 Personas Ahead of His '9 Lives' Album Release

Koe Wetzel is doubling down on his mysterious persona, which keeps those not within his inner circle at arms length. Due to his mysterious nature, fans and critics alike have created different perceived personalities for Koe in an attempt to better understand the rock and roll Texan, though they're not always accurate.
"People are always trying to figure me out. I don't do a whole lot of interview or podcasts or anything like that, where people can get to know me. So, they just make their own assumptions off of what they see on the internet or what they've seen at a concert," Koe tells Country Living.
Instead of letting fans take matters into their own hands, Koe is offering a few different identities to choose from (9 to be exact, tying into his upcoming 9 Lives album). Fans can even take a 'Which Koe Are You?'quiz to aide in the decision process!
"I just wanted to screw with people and give them nine different Me's and just mess around with them. I like to play jokes on people. Whatever person they like the most, that's what they can base their idea of me on," Koe says of his 9 Lives Album Trailer.
Koe's new album will be a departure from his usual rowdy, country/rock style. He describes it as a more "laid-back, chill record" that is "very vulnerable." Koe produced the album with Gabe Simon, who dove Koe's story. "We went into each song with either life experiences or stuff that had gone on in my life, and it got me very vulnerable," says Koe.
9 Lives is unlike any of Koe's previous albums, but the rock country departure will be short-lived according to Koe. "After this one, I think I'm going to go back to the rock sh*t that I know. I think now that we've got this one out I can say I tried it," Koe explains.
The full album will be available beginning July 19, and Koe will hit the road the following week, on July 27, for the album's "Damn Near Normal" tour! Before the tour officially begins, he'll be making his rounds at various festivals around the country.
This weekend, he's heading to Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, AL. "I love Gulf Shores. We played there a couple time before, it's always rowdy. It will be a wild, crazy, very loud set," Koe says.
Koe admits he's most excited for the European leg of his 2024 tour, which will likely be rowdy in typical Koe fashion. "This will be our first time to be out there with a full band. If they let us into Europe, then all kinds of hell are going to break loose. Once we get in, just hoping that we get back out," Koe jokes. "I'm pumped to be over there across the pond sharing the music that is Texas rock and roll."
