Kodak Black is in federal custody, and his lawyers want him placed in drug treatment. NBC Miami reports that the rapper allegedly violated his probation, leading to his arrest.

The artist, né Bill Kapri, was detained and held at Miami’s Federal Detention Center on Saturday (Dec. 16). On Tuesday (Dec. 19), Kapri and his lawyers appeared in a South Florida court to request that their client receive a 90-day drug rehab program in Arizona.

Black’s team detailed that he became addicted to Oxycodone and Percocet during a 2020 bid in a Kentucky prison. They claim that Kodak never received attention for his developed addiction. NBC reported that the judge opposed the motion. However, they will let the judge presiding over his case decide whether he would be approved for such treatment. Kodak Black remains behind bars in federal prison.

The “Super Gremlin” rapper was arrested and booked into Broward County Jail on Thursday (Dec. 7). His charges include tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, cocaine possession, improperly parking or stopping a vehicle.

A week later, Black opened up about his drug use following his arrest for cocaine possession. The Florida rapper admitted using lean but denied using cocaine. “I was on the lean, homie,” he said on Instagram Live. “I was asleep in front of my family house, bro. That’s it. That ain’t illegal. I’ll tell God himself I do Percs and sh*t like that, but them was my medicine prescribed to me. Even before I got shot and I had got prescribed to them again, I could say that I had started damn abusing [them].”

He called the recent arrest “bogus” and didn’t like his mugshot going viral online.

In the case of cocaine, he was intent on making sure people knew he did not use that. “Come on, fam. Hell f**k no, bruh,” he added. “Hell nah. And I ain’t finna say I’m against motherf**kers who do coke. Man, I ain’t on that sh*t.”
