A Knoxville bar was named one of the best beer bars in the South by Garden & Gun magazine

It opened barely three years ago, but Knox Brew Hub already can boast of being one of the best beer bars in the South.

That honor was bestowed upon the Knoxville bar by Garden & Gun. The magazine shone a spotlight on southern bars, which historically had struggled to find a place in the American craft revolution because of strict brewing and distribution laws in the region.

But that’s all changing now, and Knox Brew Hub is bubbling up to the top, along with six other beer bars named by Garden & Gun.

What Garden & Gun said about Knox Brew Hub

Opened by Zack Roskop, in 2020, Knox Brew Hub “has become the embodiment of community spirit,” the magazine writes. And the bar keeps it local, featuring nearly two dozen draft selections made in Knox County and bordering counties.

Roskop is also behind Knox Brew Tours, which began offering bus tours to breweries around Knoxville in 2014. Knox Brew Hub is the anchoring station for those tours.

“Before the tours, you’ll walk into the bar and see three or four groups at separate tables around the room,” Roskop said, according to Garden & Gun. “When the tour is over, it’s just one large mass of people all sitting together.”

Knox Brew Hub is located at 421 Union Ave.
